LOCAL, SEASONAL, FARM FRESH FLOWERS

Our Story

Here we see the world with flower vision.

Our 1/4 acre farm is tucked into the south end of Lopez Island, Washington. The small scale allows us to grow with the tender care one puts into their kitchen garden. And yes, there is always a pea patch and crunchy carrots growing amidst our beautiful blooms.

We apply regenerative farming practices like cover crops, mulch, nutrient rich compost tea, crop rotations and minimal till to keep the soil healthy and productive. The water for irrigation comes from rain water catchment so that our farm is not a burden on the island’s fragile water table.

Be it market bouquet or bridal bouquet, our elegant and lively arrangements are full of flowers, foliage, grasses and even fruit that reflect seasonality while also testing its limits.

Because we believe that growing flowers is something to be shared and accessible, we are now offering unique and very healthy flower start sets tailored by Soil Studio for pickup here at the farm through our Flower Starts Club. Each set of starts includes all the elements of a bouquet in colors that compliment and amaze.

The Team

Born to stubbornly self sufficient Lopez Island, Alaya Battalia has always felt most fulfilled with her hands in the dirt, breathing fresh sea air as the weather whips through all its guises. With a background in social work, gardening was always a part of her life but not a living. After her first baby was born during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic she left her office job and began reconsidering how to stay in community while being a full time Mom.

Growing and sharing flowers is the answer for her.

Zoë Gregozek grew up gardening with her mother in sunny Santa Cruz, California. Throughout her adulthood, she has gravitated towards work in sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty. Shorty before leaving her job as a social worker, Alaya hired Zoë to come to Lopez Island in the summer of 2020 to grow organic produce for the island’s school and help manage the food bank. A year and a chance encounter at the beach later, Zoë and Alaya are finally working together to bring whimsically elegant blooms to you.
